Esquimo 3D has been designed in the likeness of the existing applications for creation of 3D animations, basing on proven solutions. If you had to deal with similar applications, you should have no problem with the use of Esquimo. Even if you just start the adventure with designing in 3D, after reading our manual, you will come to the conclusion that it is no art. Of course, the design possibilities are much more limited in comparison with conventional 3D applications. This is due, inter alia, the performance of Flash Player, and bandwith limits .

Esquimo's task is to quickly create a 3D animation that you can embed on a website

The output product of Esquimo is a SWF file played by Flash Player in version at least of 11. Esquimo SWF has its own playback engine for playing the scene. Scene is played in real time, which entails certain consequences. It is important to follow a few rules in order to achieve the best possible compromise between the appearance of animation and demand for CPU power. The engine allows handling of events and allows you to affect the animation by the outer code (API), so the animation can be highly interactive.

Most of the existing restrictions result from the possibilities available to Flash Player. On subsequent updates of Flash Player, our team will try to expand the capabilities of Esquimo adequately. The application is continuously developed.

We encourage you to review the manual, which contains many examples, and will certainly give a greater idea of the possibilities of this software. You can also check out some examples in Molehill Zone.

  • User friendly GUI
  • Superlight file size
  • 12 built in easy customizable geometry objects
  • geometry import - 3DS, LWO, STL, Collada and X (DirectX) formats supported including textures if available (for .x format only statics meshes are handled for now)
  • dynamic lights ( up to 6 ), work with textured objects too
  • 4 types of cameras: free camera, target camera and photo target ( used to navigate among predefined camera positions ), presentation camera
  • render engine based on Flash Stage 3D and AGAL - GPU acceleration
  • textures support (currently on plane and imported meshes only)
  • widely customizable surface ( lines, points, cartoon mode, shading modes, blending modes...)
  • unique object features like shaking lines, vertex distortion, geometry tiling
  • animation creation based on keyframes
  • objects grouping (no deep limit), both group and its members can be animated independently
  • PNG alpha support (editor's work aera and output SWF)
  • resizable SWF output
  • antialiasing support
  • event handling in editor ( mouse click, mouse over/out with series of predifined reactions )
  • flexible and well documented API, special exporting options to make Esquimo API compatible for code-completion in programming environments such as FlashDevelop

Be outstanding
Are you a webmaster? Impress your client by a new kind of content on the site. 3D elements on the site are still a minority. Of course, we meet the previously precalculated 3D animations as Video files, however, they strongly increase the load time (the files have often several megabytes) and do not allow interaction.

Even a simple object animated in Esquimo, which for example rotates in the background of the content of the website, will make your site modern and definitely will focus the attention of your client.
Small output file sizes, even 50kB
Thanks to the optimization of engine code, which is included into any SWF file generated in Esquimo, we have achieved very little, as for the current standards of Internet access, output file sizes. Simple animations fit even in 50 kB.

Small file size allows the use of animations generated in Esquimo, in several places on the website, without worrying about over-extending of the loading time. Animations can be used also as a state of "Hover" for the buttons.
Make you animations interactive
You can use predefined responses to clicking the mouse on the object (moving the camera in the scene, moving to given URL address), hovering the cursor over the object (change the appearance of the objects, its motion, stop of the animation, etc.). Of course, new possibilities are opened by the use of the API. It is so simple that even a beginning programmer of AS3 can use them. API allows you to control playback of animations using AS3 code, tracing the 2D coordinates of objects. With a little ingenuity while building an appropriate scene using API, you can create a lot of interesting elements, such as a simple 3D gallery, interactive maps, 3d object viewers..    .
Free updates
The owners of Esquimo are informed abreast about newly introduced improvements/additions, and may download newer version from our website, free of charges.

In case of publication of a new version, which is much more developed than the previous one (integer version number) existing owners can upgrade their current version to a newer for a much lower cost than buying a new version. So don't wait, start now to use it, new update you will get anyway.

Requirements:

- Windows XP,Vista or Windows "7"
- min 512 MB Ram
